Another data center project sprung on people by surprise in Missouri by politicians who signed NDAs.
When a big decision with serious ramifications is rushed, that's a big big red flag for scams and fraud. People are right to want to slow down and allow stakeholders to engage in critical thinking.
The sense of urgency is a well-known high pressure sales tactic that is often used in the commission of scams and fraud.
I recommend other people in other towns start contacting local officials to see what they're signing NDAs to hide from you. And I would seriously want to know as soon as possible if there's a data center coming somewhere you are thinking of buying a house. Or if you were planning on moving and selling, you may be running out of time to be able to. Just listen to the guy Bruce who built a house last year within ½ mile of the proposed data center in rural west Wisconsin.
I'd love to know if any officials who signed any of these NDAs sold their house while the deal was secret in order to move farther away from the proposed data center site. Just seems like something that’s bound to happen in some of these situations, since, as Pat Garofalo and Sumitra Rajagopal wrote about the NDAs issue: “economic development NDAs are corrupt under any circumstance” after all. And so you have to wonder about the general sense of propriety of a lot of these officials who do this. Who knows what might be found if someone scratched the surface.
