JD Vance visited Northeastern Pennsylvania and Action Together NEPA & others were there to protest.
Side note: I tried reading “Hillbilly Elegy” after the election just to inform myself, and I just abandoned the effort after JD Vance left Pennsylvania out of his list of Appalachian states.
Social media post by Action Together NEPA July 16, 2025 at 10:22 PM actiontogethernepa.bsky.social The vibes were * IMMACULATE * in West Pittston today, as we “greeted” JD Vance & called out the the Big BS Bill. JD came to town to pat his buddy Rob Bresnahan on the back for kicking millions off their healthcare. We don’t think it’s “beautiful.” We know it’s BS. Man do I suck! photo 3, 2 people sitting on camp chairs with American flags wearing t-shirts that say resist and one is holding a sign with a picture of a living room furniture chair that has a face and a speech bubble yelling help, and the caption reads That moment when you see JD Vance coming.
Protesters rally in West Pittston against Trump’s "One Big Beautiful Bill" Story by Hannah Poggi Enraged by the bill, protesters shared their reasons for thinking it’s not so beautiful. “I think our country is at great risk right now. I think we should have free healthcare. We should have access to women's rights. I think JD Vance and Donald Trump, they're taking from us and they're giving it to the rich and they're leaving us with the scraps, whether we're middle class, working class, lower class, they're taking for us and giving it all to the top one percent,” said Lilly Casterline. Hope didn't leave minds yet, as people encouraged the community to not feel ashamed of their political decisions. “I know that the people that may have voted for Trump and Vance to be in office are regretting their decision right now, and I welcome them to join us. There's no shame for you if you regret your decision and you want human rights to be the priority, please come join us,” said Alexia Kelly.
I think we should have free healthcare like other countries too. And I don't think there is any shame in having been lied to and changing your mind; it's the liar that's at fault. These politicians who pushed through the big boondoggle bill lied. And no amount of politicking is going to smooth over the damage.
