Pennsylvania House moves to protect ACA provisions.
I've been asking my state reps what they're going to do to try to mitigate things in Pennsylvania against the onslaught of the maga-doge admin, and there's some movement.
The PA state house Democrats, every last one of them voted for 4 bills that mirror health insurance provisions in the ACA law, and not only did the PA House Dems all get their shit together and pass these bills, they got double digits of Republicans in the PA state house to sign on to bills that were introduced and cosponsored by Dems, and when they literally didn't need Republicans.
So now can we get the PA Senate to do what's right?

Everyone in Pennsylvania needs to reach out to your state senator and tell them to put the pedal down, and go balls to the wall on legislation like this, and more, to strengthen Pennsylvania for us, because Elon Musk and Mike Johnson isn't letting the F up on the go pedal, and Dave Mccormick, other Republicans, and even Rob Bresnahan quite frankly can't be trusted to not totally jellyfish on all this in these times.

Can't help but notice 2 of these bills are sponsored by Dem reps in Luzerne County, in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The county that people keep saying is getting more and more super Trumpy! Maybe not so keen on dumping Obamacare though.
Pennsylvania House passes bills to enshrine Affordable Care Act protections in state law 90.5 WESA | By Kiley Koscinski, Tom Riese Published March 26, 2025 at 5:30 AM EDT Lawmakers in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a package of bills Wednesday designed to enshrine key elements of the Affordable Care Act into state law. Legislators said the bills would maintain the status quo in Pennsylvania should the federal government repeal or change the federal health care law. (...)
House Bill 535, sponsored by Pittsburgh-area Rep. Dan Frankel, which would prohibit Pennsylvania insurers from capping coverage benefits
House Bill 618, sponsored by Luzerne County Rep. Jim Haddock, which would prohibit Pennsylvania insurers from denying or excluding coverage based on preexisting conditions
House Bill 755, sponsored by Rep. Warren, which would require Pennsylvania insurers to cover preventative health care services without cost-sharing
House Bill 404, sponsored by Wilkes-Barre-area Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, which would allow children to remain on their parent’s private health insurance plan up to the age of 26
And everyone in Pennsylvania needs to write to your state rep and if they voted yes on this bill, thank them. If they voted no, you tell them what you think of that.
And DO NOT BE COMPLACENT because there's a GOP state senator in Pennsylvania trying to say it's "too early" to worry about this stuff. Talk to the people getting canned in the federal government about how it's too early to worry. So you gotta call your state senator.
And if you live in another state, you need to write your representatives with the links to these bills and tell them you want the same things in your state.
They need to go balls to the wall on the tail of the unlikely wins in places like deep red Qanon Lancaster County, and demand our state government in Pennsylvania do everything they can to create bulwarks against the uncertainty, mayhem, and chaos of magadom.
My letter to my Dem PA state house rep who voted yes on these:
Thank you for voting to pass HBs 535, 618, 755, and 404. I want to see the state government go balls to the wall on shoring up anything possible that's getting ball dropped in the federal government. We know that Elon Musk and Mike Johnson aren't lifting on the pedal at all, and we can't rely on Rob Bresnahan to hold back the doge-magadom uncertainty and mayhem. Go Go Go. If you need suggestions, I have a whole list more!
My letter to my Dem PA state senator:
You need to shove through the PA senate the bills that the PA state House pushed through to mirror ACA protections: HBs 535, 618, 755, and 404.
